                  I have been a member of the Labs of Science School and Research Institution of Wave Propagation for half of a year. Before that, I had two years of mathematical modeling experience, which given me some research skills and mathematical theory.


                  What are my research interests and why I am interested in them

                  I have wide-range research interests, which include:

                  • Wireless Communication
                  • Channel Modeling
                  • Wireless Notwork
                  • Information Theory
                  • Interdisciplinary subject of Telecommunications and Physics

                  I have a deep love for Physics since I was in middle school. In my view, Telecommunication is a specification and stretch of general Physics, which inherits my affection for Physics. This relationship is not only indicated by by a series of Electrical and Electromagnetic courses in our curriculum, what more important are that their perspectives have something in common: they all have a insight into things¨ nature. That's why I love this field and I want to pursue further studies. I believe that I can fulfill my potential and find a real peace in my heart through Telecommunication.


                  My plan in future

                  • Short-term plan: I will figure out the general rule of rain rate in the Xi'an district. Using this result, I can stimulate Angle Spread of a typical rain in the Xi'an and calculate time-spatial correlation. If we know the wave length of electromagnetic wave, the result will show us what the best antenna distance is.
                  • Long-term plan: In my view, modern communication is: the medium of communication will be non-sensible and ubiquitous, unlike our traditional medium, which carried many restrictions. With this belief, I am interested in researching human bodies' own electromagnetic wave, which is unique from person to person. Like fingerprint, people can use this unique wave to identify someone. Furthermore, with proper device to amplify, receive, and decode this wave, people can communicate with each other freely through their own signal!

                  Project: Space-Time MIMO Channel Modeling (supported by Chinese National Science Funds)

                  Time: 2011.4--present

                  Research Institution of Wave Propagation, with Prof. Shuhong Gong.

                  My work of research focuses on analysing the effects of complex environment on MIMO communication, especially rain. In the ideal condition, we assume that the channel from satellite to receiving antenna has no multipath transmission. So each receiving antenna's receiving power is concentrated in the center angle. While in the rain condition, rain can affect electromagnetic wave in two aspects: scattering and attenuation. From the point of spatial correlation of MIMO communication, scattering can bring Angle Spread to receiving antenna's power azimuth spectrum(PAS). In this way rain can change spatial related coefficient of receiving antenna. From the point of time correlation of MIMO communication, rain rate is a stochastic process, so the rain attenuation is a stochastic process, which brings random fading to receiving signals' envelope and affect time related coefficient between receiving antenna.

                  When we discuss channel capacity, rain has two contradictory effects. For one thing, rain's scattering can increase multipath transmission and weaken receiving antennas' spatial related coefficient, which can improve MIMO channel capacity. For another thing, random rain rate will produce random fading of receiving signal's envelope, which can decrease MIMO channel capacity. My work is using data mining to analyse rate data's character in a specific district and weighing the advantage and disadvantage of rain. Finally make quantitative analysis of rain's affect in MIMO communication in a specific district, like Xi'an, China.

                  Project: Self-adaptive Coding in Differential Evolution Under Coordinate Rotation

                  Lab of Science School, with Y.F Gao

                  Time:2011.8-present

                  This project attempts to improve the performance of DEA. Inspired by information theory and coding: Gray code improves the restraining noise ability of nature binary code, we suppose that the code of candidate solutions should also affect the performance of DEA, which is affirmed by our experiment later. Therefore, this project aims at searching an effective coding system by coordinate rotation. We believe this novel approach has valuable potential.

                  Interest Research topic: Decision patterns' effect in channel capacity

                  State Key Laboratory of Integrated Service Networks

                  With Professor Baoming Bai

                  Time: 2010.9 --2010.11

                  Main Work: use matlab to simulation QSPK channel, and calculate the channel capacity respectively with soft decision and hard decision. And compare them to the Shannon bound.

                  Result: In the QPSK channel, soft decision is better than hard decision, and both of them are inferior than Shannon bound. While the difference between soft decision and hard decision will diminish when SNR is larger than 10 dB.

                  Training of Mathematical Modeling Team

                  Mathematical modeling firstly taught me how to conduct a research project. I learnt to solve problems in different field with mathematical theories and programming.

                  Software: Xidian Chatroom v0.4

                  This software is our big project of C++ Programming language course. It received a score of 99, which is the highest score among all the students.

                  Time: 2009.10--2009.12

                  Brief Introduction: Xidian Chatroom v0.4 is a cross-platform LAN chat software, which is designed in QT4, and based on C++ language. It needs no center server. It has many functions: broadcasting, private chatting, sending picture. Especially, it can link different operating system, include Windows7/XP and Ubuntu, Arch, Mandriva and other linux version.

                  My Main Work: I was in charge of designing the software's structure and writing the function of private chatting.

                  Project: Braille teaching system

                  The second prize of University & first prize of the Telecommunication School, in Spark Cup Undergraduate Scientific and Technological Works Test

                  Time: 2009.7-2009.10

                  Brief Introduction: This project is for those friends who seek light.

                  This project is based on speech chip ISD4004. Using ISD4004's outstanding function of recording and playing sound, and with the control of a keyboard, we can implement the function of input of Braille, phonic teaching, testing and searching words.

                  My Main Work: I design this project's function, making the circuit of recording part, and doing the recording work.
