Call for Participants
2013 IEEE Forum on Media Computing and Communication
Xi’an, China, July 22, 2013
Purposes: With the fastest economy growth in the world, China is becoming an attractive place to conduct high-quality researches in terms of funding, talent, apparatus and infrastructure. It is evidenced by the increasing numbers of papers published in various world-renowned journals and conferences. This is particularly true for the emerging fields in multimedia processing, computer vision, networking, communication, data mining, and machine learning, etc. This Forum aims at providing a timely platform for cross-discipline researchers in China to share and exchange their new observations, innovative ideas, solid system implementation and impressive experimental results.
Format: This Forum series is organized by IEEE Circuits and System Society Beijing Chapter and shall be held annually on different themes. One or more universities or institutes can be selected to host the Forum. The program shall consist of invited keynote speech, oral presentation from attendants, and focused or panel discussions. The oral presentations and focus discussions are in free form style and shall not be published. The outcome of this Forum is expected to enhance the interaction between the IEEE society and Chinese scholars, resulting potential cross-discipline collaborations.
The first Forum was successfully held in Dalian, August 2012. The second Forum will be hosted by Xidian University in Xi’an, July 22, 2013. The theme in this year’s Forum is media computing and communication. The media computing topics shall include media compression, media content analysis, media retrieval, media reconstruction, and media quality assessment. The media communication topics shall include various networking and communication technologies to deliver media contents over wired or wireless channel. We encourage this year’s attendants to prepare oral presentations that are related as much as possible to mobile device and cloud computing.

July 23 - Local activities (optional) 8:00 – 18:00
This Forum is non-profit. Every participant needs to cover personal transportation and hotel cost. The Forum host will provide services on hotel reservation, conference venue, local activities, and the cost for limited invited experts. Please fill the following form and email your confirmation to Miss Jie Lin before July 1, 2013.
