VIPS Lab, School of Electronic Engineering, Xidian University    

     VIPSL is a laboratory for overseas returned scholars supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE), China, which is affiliated with the School of Electronic Engineering, Xidian University, Xi'an, China. It is located at the West Building III-106/109 and Scientific Building B-404, of North Campus of Xidian University. Now, the Director of VIPSL is Professor Xinbo Gao.

    "VIPS" means "Video & Image Processing System". As the name suggests, the main research interests of VIPS Lab include video/image processing, analysis, and understanding. Currently our research mainly involves: machine learning, computational intelligence and their applications in image/video processing, analysis and understanding. For the medical imaging, we do some research and develop some applied software packages on the PACS, scientific visualization and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD). In addition, we are also interested in developing application systems on video surveillance, video conference system and near earth space information gird .

    VIPS was founded in 2001. Since then, VIPS has been sponsored by NSFC (Natural Science Foundation of China), MOE (Ministry of Education), NSFS of Shaanxi province, and other organizations.
